Thermometer Calibration Test

There are 2 simple tests to check the thermometer accuracy, for upper and lower readings.

  • For upper, insert probe into boiling water, it should be 100 degrees.
  • For lower reading fill a glass with ice and add water, stir well, adding more ice as it melts down.  Wrap it in a towel and inset the probe into the water, it should read zero.
  • For both options take care that the probe isn’t touching the pot or glass, or you may get an inconsistent reading.
